Acupucture

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine is rooted in over 5000 years of practice and is based on the paradigm that the body has an innate vital energy called the “Qi”.  Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that acupuncture can regulate the flow of this energy, which when flowing smoothly and freely within the meridians or channels in the body, keeps us healthy and well.   Studies have shown that acupuncture is effective for a number of health issues.

Acupuncture therapy involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body.  These points have different actions and can stimulate nerve and muscle activity, relax muscles and improve blood flow to the local area.  Most people report minimal, if any, discomfort as the needle is inserted.  Once inserted to the correct depth, the needle should produce a mild sensation of pressure but not pain.  Most people find acupuncture to be relaxing and some even fall asleep during a treatment.

Acupuncture is beneficial for literally almost any health concern.  The list of conditions proven to respond to acupuncture is quite extensive especially in regards to treating acute & chronic pain, however modern research has also verified that acupuncture is effective in treating a variety of other health conditions as well.  Conditions such as: infertility (both male and female), endometriosis, polycstic ovarian syndrome, mestrual symptoms and irrgularies, fibromyalgia, anxiety/depression, insomnia, stress, and various issues that arise in pregnancy, postpartum and beyond.
